We have the "I wanna out" nearly figured out, Leah even use the bell we have hanging from the door handle if she need to go out to pee. We still have a few accidents - but's it not Leah's fault, but simply us humans that are too stupid and ignorant to listen to what she is telling us.
My dad looked after Leah for a couple of hours Monday while i attended the Christmas meeting at the local boxer club, where I learned about stretching and massage as a tool to keep your dog healthy and happy :o) I learned a lot and the speaker was great at explaining things.
We came home that evening to find a pooped out dad and a puppy with a rocket up her butt - lot of fuel left over to do more mischief. It seems like when she have these energy burst', she tend to take it way more slow the next few days... great for me, but I'm feeling rather sorry for my dad that had to endure this.
This week Leah have spend some (to her knowledge) unsuperviced time in the garden. She did her business, played a bit with a stick and then felt it was time to go sit patiently waiting for me to open the door to let her in. And today she have spend some time alone in the car while we ran some errands - again, she didn't know I was keeping an eye on her for a while... First she had a lot of fun looking at people passing by, then it was time to play a bit with the roll of poop bags. When the roll couldn't roll any longer, she figured it was time for a nap, snuggled up in her blanket. I'm so proud of her. I at least expected some whining, but nothing at all.
Leah have learned it's so much fun helping us wrap the Christmas gifts - OK, in her case it's unwrapping. That earned her a few minutes in her crate. She is starting to figure out that she won't be let out if she whine, since I go sweet talk her until she shut up. The minute she shut up, I open the door and tell her what a great girl she is. So far it's only a few minutes at a time, but as she start to relaxe a bit more about the subject of a closed cratedoor, I'll increase the time a little bit.
It's actually a bit odd. Leah can sleep in her crate for hours. But - and there is a huge But....
The second we close the door, she'll try to dig her way out of it. There is simply something with closed doors and Leah. Even the door to the birds aviary, or the door down to the basement...
Talking about the basement. Now we do need to have the door closed because today our cutiepie figured out how to whine her way down the stairs becaus I was doing laundry. I didn't realize she was actually coming down until the moment she stood behind me - all I had heard was her sitting on the top of the stair, whining because she didn't liked the idea of me leaving her behind. So yes - she litterally whined her way down the stair one step at a time.
